Safora Shakoory is a resilient and passionate Finance major, who faced many challenges but never gave up. Born and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan, she and her family were forced to leave after the Taliban takeover. With her deceased father’s work for the U.S. Army in Afghanistan, they were able to relocate to the United States in early 2022. As the eldest child, she takes on the responsibility of supporting her mother and siblings while pursuing her education and career goals.
After graduating from Gateway High School in 2023, Safora began her studies in Finance at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She now works as a Student Assistant with the Immigrant Services Program and as a Student Mentor with the Center for Urban Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Dedicated to advocacy and education, she is passionate about helping immigrants and refugees navigate new opportunities.
Inspired by her own experiences, Safora is working toward creating a charity that supports individuals who have lost their fathers and face hardships. Her vision is to provide financial assistance, and educational resources to empower those in need. Safora is also deeply passionate about supporting Afghan girls who have lost access to education due to the ongoing political situation in Afghanistan. She hopes to establish programs that offer educational opportunities to these girls and help them rebuild their futures.
Safora is determined to be a voice for those deprived of education, immigrants, and refugees.Her journey reflects strength, perseverance, and a deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of others both in her local community and around the world.
