Korim Ullah is a Rohingya refugee, community advocate, and student currently living in Colorado. Born in Burma (Myanmar), Korim was forced to flee his home at the age of 13 due to violence and Genocide against the Rohingya community. After escaping with his family, he spent many years living as a refugee in India, where he faced challenges including lack of legal protection, limited access to education, and language barriers. In 2024, Korim and his family were resettled in the United States through Global Refugee in partnership with Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Today, he works as a Cultural Orientation Coordinator with Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains in Evans/Greeley, Colorado, where he supports newly arrived refugee families by teaching cultural orientation, digital literacy, and financial literacy classes. He is also a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and continues to advocate for refugee communities through public speaking and youth leadership.
Korim is graduating with an Associate degree in Liberal Arts from Aims Community College and will attend UNC in Fall 2026, majoring in Political Science with Legal Studies. He dreams of attending law school one day. He previously worked as an interpreter with UNHCR, IOM, and the U.S. Embassy in Delhi. He is also a youth leader with The Azadi Project and a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success. Korim served as a refugee youth representative and panel speaker at the Concordia Annual Summit 2025 in New York City.
Now a member of the Colorado Refugee Speakers Bureau, Korim hopes to raise awareness about the refugee experience, resilience, education, and the importance of dignity and opportunity for displaced people around the world.
