Madina Amiri | Afghanistan

Madina Amiri is a refugee from Afghanistan, student leader, entrepreneur, and aspiring finance professional. After spending a year in a refugee camp in the United Arab Emirates, she taught English to children and started a small business selling clothing, hygiene products, and other essentials to fellow refugees. Through her determination and hard work, she earned income to support her family while helping meet the needs of her community.

After resettling in the United States at the end of 2022, Madina has excelled academically while holding several leadership and student engagement roles at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she is pursuing a degree in Finance with minors in Accounting and Political Science. She has earned multiple scholarships, won first place in a Business Pitch and Poster Competition, and serves as a multilingual interpreter for Aurora Public Schools.

Through the highly competitive Presidential Federal Internship Program, Madina gained public service experience in Washington, D.C., working in the office of Senator John Hickenlooper. The experience strengthened her passion for public service, leadership, and policy.

During the summer of 2026, Madina is completing two internships, gaining hands-on experience in business operations, finance, and accounting. Her dream is to help women and girls around the world gain access to education and opportunities that empower them to reach their full potential. Driven by resilience, ambition, and a commitment to service, she continues to turn challenges into opportunities and remains unstoppable in pursuing her goals.
