Sohaila Fariyar

Sohaila Fariyar | Afghanistan
Sohaila Fariyar is a strong advocate for refugees and human rights . She was born in Afghanistan and had to leave her home when she was just 12 years old because of war. Her family moved to Pakistan, where they lived as refugees for 10 years. Hoping for a better future, Sohaila returned to Kabul where she studied law and became a lawyer. She worked with national and international organizations to support women and fight for their rights.
In 2014, due to growing danger in Afghanistan, Sohaila had to flee again—this time with her husband and 10-year-old son. They resettled in the United States and started their life from scratch. Sohaila went back to college and earned a paralegal degree.
Now, she works with resettlement agencies to support other refugees. She helps them adjust to life in a new country, understand their rights, and overcome challenges. Through her work and her story, Sohaila brings hope to others starting over, just like she did.
